Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Spelling Bee using materials prepared by the Scripps National Spelling Bee organization. The purpose of the competition is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.
