Identification Process for QUEST Classes
-
Assessment for placement in a QUEST class for high potential students takes place in the spring of the year, with the exception of students new to the district. Recommendations are based on district test scores, a checklist of characteristics observed by the classroom teacher and/or by any adult knowledgeable of the student’s abilities.
Assessment measures include:
- Renaissance STAR Math & Reading Winter Administration
- Cognitive Ability Test given by the Classroom Teacher or High Potential Coordinator
- GATES - Gifted and Talented Evaluation Scales (teacher checklist)
All scores are placed on a weighted grid and student’s composite scores are compared to others at their school/grade level.
