Junior Great Books
-
Junior Great Books is an enrichment program based on the concept of “shared inquiry”. Through this method, students work with a trained volunteer to uncover the deeper meanings in short stories they read from the text. The thought-provoking questions and engaging literature help students improve their skills in four key areas:
- critical thinking
- communication
- listening
- literacy
Groups meet either within the school day or after school during the winter months, covering one selection per week. Students may rent or purchase the textbook and are expected to read the story twice before the discussion.
